This line of cars, dating as far back as 1974, has seen some steps in the direction of sporty and slick in the recent years. With these developments, 2014 has seen the introduction of Scirocco 1.4 TSI, Scirocco 2.0 TDI 150 and the Scirocco R models. The petrol, turbocharged engine of the 1.4 TSI, the entry-level variant, provides some rather easy riding, style and is pretty economical. It develops 123bhp and cruises through 52.3 miles per gallon.
The 2.0 TDI 150 can crank up to 148bhp and considering its lower power diesel capabilities, delivers a decent shove. The strong point of this diesel is its economy at 62.8mpg (VW claim). Now, the Scirocco R wields 276bhp with its 2.0l turbocharged engine offering more punch for a higher price, while still going for fuel efficiency. When considered on its own, 2014 Volkswagen Scirocco is a fairly powerful sedan, but when compared to the counterparts it tries to compete, let's face that it loses its appeal.
